What Is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth, celebrated every June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It’s a day of remembrance, resilience, and celebration of Black freedom and achievement.
